Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) continues to shine on the global stage as two outstanding teams prepare to represent not only Kenya but the entire African continent at the prestigious 2025 SDG Olympiad Global Challenge in Geneva, Switzerland on 10th to 15th October 2025.
We share MMUST''S immense pride and gratitude, by revealing that Ms. Teresiah Nyandoro and her team and Mr. Phabian Odoyo and his team will be traveling to Geneva on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, to showcase their groundbreaking innovations. Remarkably, MMUST is the only university worldwide to qualify with two innovations, a milestone that highlights the university’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and sustainable development.
Further, SPIIC and Innovation Academy wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the university’s leadership for their unwavering support and commitment to nurturing innovation. Our Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo for trusting in all of us and offering guidance and support, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (PRI) Prof. Peter Bukhala for continuous mentorship, support and encouragement, Registrar (PRI) Dr. Collins Matemba for standing with us and all the support accorded, and the Director of the Dr. Tecla Sum, for her exceptional leadership at the Science, Park, Innovation and Incubation Centre (SPIIC) and MMUST Innovation Academy. The university leadership, staff and students who played every special role towards this success. We also acknowledge all the mentors who played a vital role in preparing the students; Dr. Odoyo Collins, Dr. Nyandiko, Dr. Okinda, Prof. Omuterema, and Dr. Annet Okoth; for their invaluable guidance and dedication.
This achievement demonstrates what is possible when vision, mentorship, and institutional support come together. “A MMUST Innovation Academy, we are proud of our innovators and confident that they will make MMUST, Kenya, and Africa proud on the global platform.
